Jaipur, the pink city

Jaipur “the pink city”, Rajasthan. We were only here for two days, but it has made an impression on us. We spent pretty much the entire two days (much like Delhi) walking around (read: being lost) in the city. The thing about India is just walking through the street you see so much life and color. Its really indescribable.

We spend most of the day walking through the pink city, and looking through the bazaars. I forget where i read it but somewhere I heard that the pink city has a lot of tourist with too much money and not enough time. This is because inside the pink city the prices were inflated quite a bit, so I choose to look rather than buy… not like i have the room for an extra sari or pair of shoes anyhow.

One thing I have learned in the past few days is i have a great ability to get lost in the mechanical(?) district of the towns. Both in Delhi and in Jaipur i found myself in the bike repair shop bazaar for as far as the eye can see. I mean… really? The good news is we meet a traveler from England on the road who clued us into a cool tip about using my iphone GPS for the map around town. Now i have maps for every city we’re going too! However, I still may leave it in the hostel rooms, there’s nothing like getting lost in a new city.

After walking around for multiple hours we decided to be super lame and get a few kingfishers and watch a movie on my laptop last night. Sometimes its nice to have a night in :)
